Our Romanian Traditional
Rugs
Imagine the golden glow of
the sun against the soft pastel houses, residents going about their
business, tending the chickens, their vegetable gardens or sitting on
the front porch. In villages and in the countryside, on lands dominated
by ancestral castles, old fortresses and peaceful monasteries, life
moves a little slower and follows ancient rhythms of tradition and
culture.
Here is the
place where our Romanian Traditional Rugs are born.

While
technically textiles, rugs deserve their own category, because no other
textiles so dramatically reflect their regions of origin. As varied as
different areas' attractions, so too are the rugs that are displayed on
surrounding fences. Most are flat-weave kilims, probably introduced
centuries ago by the controlling Ottoman Empire.
Each of our Romanian kilims can be considered an original creation, with
vegetal and zoo morphs décor having some imported motifs that are
combined with the original tradition of South Oltenia. |

Eco Rugs - Love of Nature
The ancient village
artisans created the rugs as they wished to look like . Each pattern
contains combined motifs of birds, seeds, trees and flowers which the
artisans considered to be essential elements of life and nature.
Each artisan knew the
technique and the specific types of canvas of that place. The patterns
were transmitted from generation to generation and were continuously
improved till our days. They did not use drawings but cooperation of
ideas.
To create our rugs we
use selected eco friendly wool productions. The Turcana wool is the most
appropriate material because of its breed with long, brassy and rough
thread.
